Business Advisor

Dan Meier, an Oliver Wight business advisor, has a legacy of improving business performance in manufacturing, supply chain, and operations environments, domestically and internationally. With a passion for Integrated Business Planning, also known as Advanced Sales and Operations Planning, he has implemented and directed foundational supply chain processes and capabilities across Corporate Segments, Divisions, and Plant sites.

While at Dupont for 35+ years, Dan served in various functions and roles in Technology, Manufacturing, Operations, and Supply Chain Management.  In his last 10 years at DuPont, Dan served as a Supply Chain Program Leader and Consultant, leading programs to implement Integrated Business Management, End-to-End Supply Chain Diagnostics, and Business Transformation.  He coached Business leadership and managed program plans and resources to execute projects utilizing his extensive understanding of all aspects of supply, demand, and operations planning and execution. Dan’s professional supply chain proficiency arose from his work and experience in technology, manufacturing, operations, and supply chain roles across multiple global business units and sites.

At Sonoco Products Company, Dan was Director of Supply Chain for the Global Consumer Segment and later the Global Plastics Division Supply Chain.  He improved overall NWC reporting and managing processes for the Corporation, as well as for the Plastics Division and underlying segments, implementing foundational supply chain processes and capabilities across segments and plant sites. Dan also supported onboarding $300M of acquisition businesses into the Plastics Division, implementing Demand Planning in multiple segments and Supply Network Planning into one of the larger segments, including initiating an S&OP process for that segment.

With a natural propensity for teaching, Dan spent the 2020/2021 school year teaching Math at a STEM high school during the pandemic.  This experience helped him hone his teaching, coaching, and mentoring skills, in person and in a virtual environment.  Dan is currently the Chairperson for the Business Advisory Council for the School of Business at Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina, and is an active sponsor of the annual Senior Capstone Project in Business Planning at the school.

Dan earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Delaware, his Master of Engineering degree at the University of South Carolina-Columbia, and his Master of Business Administration degree from SUNY Buffalo.  Dan also holds CPIM and CSCP certifications from ASCM.
