Business Advisor
Duncan Banks is a Business Advisor with Oliver Wight, partnering with organizations across diverse industries to implement and enhance Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes. With extensive experience in IBP, Duncan specializes in the Supply process step and operationalizing strategy—ensuring that strategic execution plans are embedded throughout each step of the IBP process across the 24–36-month business planning horizon.
Prior to joining Oliver Wight, Duncan built a 30+ year career in management and leadership roles spanning operations, organizational development, and strategy management. Beginning in innovation and new product development, he progressed to lead organizational development and change management programs that achieved Class A accreditations in its businesses across North America. He later assumed ownership of the supply step of IBP. He led North American operations before focusing his career on strategy management—driving the development, communication, alignment, and execution of strategic initiatives. His work emphasized the design of operational, people, and cultural systems that support long-term performance through empowered teams and strong leadership.
Duncan believes that business improvement is driven by people and teams who are aligned to deliver measurable organizational outcomes. His philosophy centers on transparency, alignment, teamwork, collaboration, and communication—the essential principles of effective change management that foster cross-functional excellence and minimize siloed behavior.
Over the past 25+ years, Duncan has successfully implemented Class A business processes and led the evolution from Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) to Integrated Business Planning (IBP). This work strengthened Product and Portfolio Management process, introduced scenario planning to drive gap-closing actions, and helped organizations operationalize strategy by fully integrating strategic execution activities within the IBP process—elevating performance and achieving sustainable business goals.
Originally from the UK, Duncan lives in Southern California, spending much of his career in the United States and Canada. He holds a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Applied Chemistry from Portsmouth Polytechnic (UK).
