Description:
World-class inventory record accuracy is 99.5%. Nevertheless, many business organizations strive to reach an “acceptable” level of at least 95% inventory record accuracy. However, even after achieving the 95% accuracy level, most do not sustain or improve their record accuracy over the long term. And the penalty can be severe: compromised inventory data, which creates inaccurate inventory records negatively impact an organization’s financial, productivity and customer service performances.
Inventory record accuracy is critical to data quality assurance and a key component of the master data asset that enables ERP systems to bring value to the business. One tool that has been successfully used to improve inventory record accuracy is cycle counting. The presenters will review several techniques that can lead to better inventory record accuracy and introduce a high-performance, cycle-count technique that is very effective in practice and leads to inventory record control and integrity. They will describe and detail the individual steps required to successfully implement this process that is central to an inventory record accuracy process that maintains high integrity.
